Firm Culture

Dattner Architects has a collaborative, team-focused working environment and a diverse staff.  Our studio space promotes communication and knowledge sharing across a diverse range of project typologies and scales. We take advantage of technology, including BIM, to promote design integration, facilitate visualizations, and optimize coordination among disciplines.

We support continuing professional education by staff members and also encourage active involvement in professional and community extra-curricular activities. We participate in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and encourage Architectural Registration and LEED Accreditation. The firm sponsors a series of office-wide technical, design, and practice presentations developed by firm leaders, staff, and allied professionals. Project Designer / Project Architect – Interiors

We are seeking a capable, intermediate level Project Designer / Project Architect to join our growing interiors group.  This role will work as a key part of the design team on all phases of project development- from planning and concept through design, FF+E selection and construction documents- for high-profile corporate, healthcare, institutional, and residential interiors projects.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master’s in Architecture
  • 5-8 years of relevant professional experience working on high-profile interior projects
  • NYS Architectural Registration preferred
  • Strong graphic skills
  • Strong aesthetic sense, 3D presentation, production and technical skills
  • Experience with materials selection, specification and detailing
  • Focused, articulate, well organized, excellent time management skills, detail-oriented
  • Proficient with Revit; familiarity with other 3D software and Adobe Design Suite
  • Familiarity with architectural and interiors details, finish materials and furnishings
  • Working knowledge of NYC Building Code and LEED Accreditation preferred
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States

Entry Level Designer

We are seeking a full-time entry-level designer to produce models and graphic presentations, and assist with design and construction documents for public and private sector projects. The elected candidate may be assigned to work on various phases of project development and may also support specific marketing initiatives.  A willingness to participate in a wide range of tasks is critical to success.

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor or Masters of Architecture
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong graphic skills
  • High quality 3D presentation skills
  • Model making: wood, metal, plastic, paper (laser cutter and traditional construction)
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Functional knowledge of at least 2 of the following: AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3d Studio Max, Form Z, Rhinoceros, InDesign
  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments
  • Focused, well organized and detail-oriented
  • Authorization to work in the US

Project Architect – Educational Projects

We are seeking a Project Architect to join our institutional group, which focuses on educational, healthcare and cultural projects.  We are looking for candidates with significant experience designing and managing NYC educational projects from start to finish- with a specific emphasis on experience working with the NYC School Construction Authority.  This position will lead critical components of educational projects, and oversee the other project team members.

The selected candidate will have strong technical skills, including the ability to develop well-executed and coordinated construction documents.  They will have experience in construction administration, Revit fluency and the ability to communicate design ideas graphically and verbally.

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor or Masters of Architecture
  • 8-12 years of relevant professional experience
  • NYC School Construction Authority experience
  • Strong technical and design skills
  • Team player, able to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Focused, articulate, well-organized and mature
  • Excellent time management skills- able to manage individual tasks and those of the team
  • Fluency with Revit and AutoCAD

We are seeking a Project Architect to join our Housing Practice. The Project Architect will work as key part of design team during all project phases for high-profile, sustainable, urban affordable housing developments in the New York area.

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor of Architecture or Masters Degree
  • NYS Architectural Registration
  • 8-12 years relevant professional experience
  • Strong design, production and technical skills
  • Strong graphic and presentation skills
  • Focused, articulate, well organized, and detail-oriented
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with other 3D software
  • Knowledge of NYC Building code, NYC Zoning Regulations, and familiarity with Enterprise Green Homes, and LEED
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Project Architect: Housing, Construction Administration

We are seeking a Project Architect to join our Housing Practice. The Project Architect will work as key part of design team during construction for high-profile, sustainable, urban housing developments in the New York area. Construction Administration experience with Multi-Family Residential is vital.

  • Bachelor or Master of Architecture
  • NYS Architectural Registration
  • 5-10 years relevant professional experience

  • NYC Construction Administration Experience
  • Strong graphic and presentation skills

Intermediate Architect – Housing

We are seeking an experienced intermediate level architect to join our growing housing group. The candidate will work as a key part of the project team during all phases, from concept presentations and design development through construction documents and administration for high-impact, sustainable and urban multi-unit residential developments in the New York area.

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor of Architecture Degree
  • 3-6 years professional experience
  • Strong design and technical skills
  • Strong graphic and 3D presentation skills
  • Focused, articulate, well-organized, and detail oriented
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, Rendering Software, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of NYC Building code, NYC Zoning Regulations, and familiarity with Enterprise Green Homes and LEED
  • Experience designing affordable or mixed-income urban residential projects
  • Able to take a project from concept through Construction Administration
