Joon Cho has focused his career on public architecture and values provides people with positive, prideful, and influential space. Joon has been involved in the design of a wide range of residential, cultural, civic, and institutional projects from conceptual studies to micro-detailing, and his responsibilities have included the coordination and management of all professional disciplines.
He likens architecture to medicine—both follow a process of investigation and diagnosis before prescribing a remedy. Architects must carefully listen to the clients, examine programs, extract physical and cultural relation from context, and finally create a building that harmonizes taste and functional demands. Through various aspects of architecture, social phenomena, and desire an effective and interesting structure can be designed.
Joon holds an M.Arch from University of Michigan and a BS from Hon-ik University in Seoul, Korea. He has been with Dattner Architects since 2003 and is a licensed architect in New York.
