Gateway Elton III has transformed a former landfill into a vibrant new mixed-use neighborhood on a in Brooklyn’s Spring Creek area. The third phase of a multi-phase development, the 2.54 acre site includes two mid-rise residential buildings with 287 units of affordable housing. Organized around a central courtyard with parking and outdoor recreation areas, both buildings are designed to create strong street frontages and to reinforce the pedestrian-friendly perimeter block design of the previous project phases. Located across the street from a new school, the south facades of the buildings face a future neighborhood park. Gateway Elton III was designed as part of the LEED for Homes Mid-Rise program and is participating in the NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Program; it has the largest Solar Photovoltaic Panels array on a multifamily development in New York State.
