Emily Kotsaftis has focused her career on transportation architecture, developing an expertise in the design and construction of innovative transit stations and the integration of infrastructure into each community. Fascinated by the complex networks that impact people’s lives every day, Emily approaches each project motivated by a deep interest in creating spaces that truly serve the public. Passionate about creating civic space, Emily enjoys designing spaces that people see and experience first-hand, as well as the important infrastructure that goes on behind the scenes.
Motivated by equity and inclusion in the workplace, Emily co-founded Dattner Architects’ Women’s Group in an effort to create a supportive office culture that recognizes the unique challenges associated with being a woman in the field of design and construction. She is an active member of AIANY, where she previously served as the chapter’s Associate Director. Emily has also volunteered with the Emerging Architects Committee, hosting international design competitions and mentoring programs. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Building Science, and a Minor in Transportation Engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute.
