Originally built in 1863 as the New York Soldiers’ Depot, where soldiers returning from the Civil War were received and cared for free of charge, 50 Howard Street is a five-story building located in Soho’s Cast Iron Landmark District. The once-neglected historic structure has been transformed into luxury residences. The facade is fully restored and the original heavy timber interior structure is preserved and partially exposed in the new living spaces of the one to four-bedroom apartments. A new penthouse addition with a large south facing terrace creates a 5,000 square foot duplex at the top of the building.
