Courtlandt Corners revitalized two key blocks on the main thoroughfare of the South Bronx’s Melrose Commons Urban Renewal Area and provides 323 units of safe, affordable housing. Developed under NYC’s Quality Housing Program, the buildings are organized around interior landscaped courtyards. Setbacks, bays, brick patterns and metal panels create a welcoming residential character articulated with a contemporary architectural expression. The studio to three bedroom apartments have generous layouts with large windows providing abundant natural light. The sustainable project is participating in the NYSERDA Multi-Family Performance Program. Construction was subsequently completed on the adjacent development, Courtlandt Crescent, also for Phipps Houses.
