The renovation of the Degetau Federal Office Building was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) as a High Performance Building Modernization. The Degetau Federal Building is part of the largest GSA-owned campus in the Caribbean. The 35-year old building is being modernized to meet GSA’s stringent energy efficiency standards. The design team, which included Goshow Architects, Richard McElhiney Architects and Dattner Architects, developed a detailed phasing analysis, balancing the operational needs of 16 federal agencies with available on-site swing space and the budget – allowing the building to remain occupied throughout construction. The project is designed to achieve a LEED silver rating.
