Circularity: a Well-Rounded Conversation featuring Shefali Sanghvi
Associate Principal Shefali Sanghvi will be in Philadelphia making a presentation to the 15th annual Sustainability Symposium, alongside Skanska’s Laden Haji-Mohamed and Angela Iraldi as well as Denise Richards, Keast & Hood Structural Engineers. The panel will explore the industry impetrative to adopt a circular economy strategy to combat the the built environment’s major role in global emissions. When materials are discarded, we lose their embodied carbon, energy, and labor value. The transition to viewing existing buildings as material banks, rich with resources that can be repurposed instead of sent to landfill can transform our industry and the built environment. The panel will discuss the new skills and strategies required for managing material flows, designing for disassembly, and optimizing reuse through current projects and best practices. Circularity requires collaboration, and the shared and individual perspectives of architect, engineer, and builder will elevate this discussion.
