Ruth Ro and Troy Lacombe to Present at AIA New York: Advocating for Practical Policy on All-Gender Bathrooms

Ruth Ro, Partner, and Troy Lacombe, Senior Designer, will join the AIANY Interiors Committee and the AIANY LGBTQIA+ Alliance in  conversation to examine how design professionals can advocate for practical and equitable  policy, using all-gender bathrooms as a case study. Building on more than a decade of work and the Summer 2025 Oculus article “A Stall for One, A Stall for All,” Ruth and Troy will help lead a discussion on the proposed code changes and the importance of the inclusive design advocacy work underway by AIANY.

The program will explore current efforts to amend to enable multi-stall, all-gender bathrooms—making it easier for design professionals to create more inclusive and equitable spaces for their clients. Through this lens, Troy and Ruth will highlight how thoughtful design, community needs, and policy must work in tandem to create accessible and safe environments for all users.
