Dattner Architects 2025 Promotions: Senior Associates and Associates

In recognition of their outstanding leadership and deep-seated passion for enriching urban environments with projects that respond to the needs of our time, Dattner Architects is proud to recognize the exceptional contributions of nine distinguished professionals through promotions.

Deniz Secilmis, Luis Morales, Daniel Cohen, Nathaniel Rogers, and Michael Hackspill have been promoted to Associate. Kristy Phillips, Gustavo Munoz, Matthew Barlow, and Harriet Andronikides are now Senior Associates. These advancements reflect the dedication, commitment to sustainable and innovative civic architecture, and the high level of professionalism these architects and allied professionals bring to our firm.

Deniz Secilmis AIA, LEED AP, CPHD  is passionate about affordable housing, sustainability, and New York City. She enjoys seeing projects through from start to finish—beginning with the big picture and getting into the details of design and construction. Her focus is on multi-family affordable buildings, many of which are Passive House. “I’m proud to be part of a firm that helps shape everyday life for New Yorkers— whether it’s how they get around, where they go to school, or the places they call home. In the housing studio at Dattner Architects, I’ve had the opportunity to work on campus-scale projects focused on visionary, sustainable design that supports the communities they serve. It’s meaningful to come in each day, collaborate with a great team, and keep learning as we grow alongside the city.”—Deniz

Luis Morales AIA develops strategic solutions to architectural issues through research and application of theory. He enjoys problem solving, identifying best practice strategies, and foster a team-environment based on effective communication. Luis joined Dattner Architects four years ago and helps to lead healthcare, government, and institutional projects. “Dattner Architects has given me the space to be myself and contribute to the team in meaningful ways. I’m always impressed by our ability to organize work and join individual forces to shape the built environment.”—Luis

Daniel Cohen AIA, LEED AP is passionate about materials and assembly, and approaches architecture as a practitioner and an educator. He has worked on high profile, complex projects across typologies. Dan now focused on large public projects with multiple stakeholders. “I am grateful to be surrounded by such a talented, passionate, and supportive team of architects and designers.  Architecture is a challenging pursuit, filled with competing demands, technical challenges, and creative conflicts. However, when you work with good people these difficulties fade into the background and good work steps forward. Dattner Architects is full of these good people and in this new role my goal is to support and guide our teams towards many years of great architecture and design.”—Dan

Nathaniel Rogers joined Dattner Architects with broad HR experience, a commitment to professional development, and a fascination with architecture. He leads initiatives that foster a culture of mentorship, wellness, engagement, and life-long learning. “Many HR professionals describe it as a thankless career.  But if you’re lucky enough to work for a mission-driven company that invests in and develops its employees, it can be hugely fulfilling. I’m so proud to call both Dattner Architects and New York City my home. It’s an honor to be recognized for my contributions and a thrill to continue serving alongside so many talented people that care as much about this great city as I do.”—Nathaniel

Michael Hackspill AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CPHD has designed new construction as well as renovation projects in France as well as the US; his portfolio includes schools, healthcare, and public housing. Working at Dattner Architects, he has brought this perspective and experience to the design of urban affordable housing projects. “What drives me to be at Dattner Architects is our mission: to create a built environment that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable and strengthens the local communities, to design for people experiencing hardship beautiful places to live, where they can thrive with some peace of mind in our difficult society. Every day, I have the chance to implement that mission as I contribute to a wide range of projects from homeless shelters to affordable housing. The work we do fulfills me professionally and personally. I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to be part of the leadership group and to shape the future of the firm and of our city.”—Michael

Kristy Phillips AIA is interested in the environmental and social implications of her work, and focuses on designing spaces that educate, inspire, and expose people to humanized design, natural materials, and thoughtful craftsmanship. She has applied this across typologies including schools, healthcare, and commercial work. In addition to managing projects, Kristy is also a Studio Director. “Working at Dattner Architects is incredibly rewarding. Our public and institutional projects have a deep and positive impact on New Yorkers, and it’s been an honor to help create essential spaces for learning, gathering, and community interaction. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with so many talented designers, whose strong mentorship has been invaluable. I’m immensely proud to be part of such a dedicated team driven by the same core mission, committed to bringing these vital projects to life.”—Kristy

Gustavo Munoz AIA is an expert in constructability and detailing, and he is passionate about seeing projects come together in the field. He has worked directly for general contractors, developers, as well as having his own firm. At Dattner Architects, he is focused on affordable housing, leading construction administration and mentoring co-workers. “When I joined Dattner Architects, I was at a crossroad in my career, I was transitioning of closing my own firm of over 15 years, I was drawn to the firm’s culture and its diverse portfolio, I was hired to work on the construction of Prospect Plaza 2 and 3, at the time one of the largest project in the office, today I am grateful, proud and humble to be part of this group and to the progress the firm has made, we are over 140 employees and certified Women-Owned Business, wow!!”—Gus

Matthew Barlow is dedicated to fostering and promoting the vitality of the design process, and the evolving impact it has on the communities and environments it serves. As Marketing Director, he leads new business development initiatives and works closely with firm leadership, design teams, and our clients to develop thoughtful, tailored proposals. “Throughout my (almost) decade at Dattner Architects, it’s been consistently rewarding to see the firm continue to grow across all sectors, studios, and departments – while at the same time preserving our core civic values. The firm has provided a place for me to continue to learn, and its commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and community has been invaluable.”—Matt

Harriet Andronikides AIA has an endless fascination for the built environment and the inner workings of the city. She is most inspired when contributing to projects that serve the city and enrich the experience of the end user. Harriet has worked on a variety of project types, and now leads urban public projects and also serves as a Studio Director.  “I’m extremely proud to be part of Dattner Architects, contributing to civic and infrastructure projects that shape our communities and improve the lives of New Yorkers. I find deep meaning in my work and constant inspiration in the passion and talent of my colleagues. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given and am excited for all we’ll continue to build together.”—Harriet
