Located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, the new Prospect Plaza development is transforming a 4.5-acre scattered site into 364-units of affordable and public housing, with supporting amenities. This new development is being designed and built in three phases. The full project, when completed, will offer 80 units of NYCHA pubic housing, 284 units of affordable housing, and will include space for a new supermarket, community facility, and new recreation areas.
Prospect Plaza Phase I of the development, recently achieved LEED for Homes Platinum certification and has been approved as Active Design Verified. Offering 110 affordable housing units, the development also includes garden plots and outdoor play and exercise amenities for the residents.
Awarded LEED Gold in 2017, Prospect Plaza Phase II offers 149 affordable units. This phase includes a combination of four-story walk-up, townhouse-style buildings, and two five-and-a-half story elevator buildings.
The final phase, the Saratoga Site, encompasses a four-and-a-half story elevator building organized around a central courtyard. Scheduled for completion in 2018, the new building will offer 135 units and retail space for the supermarket and community facility.
