Heather McKinstry to Join AIA Brooklyn Social Housing Panel
On November 18, Heather McKinstry, Senior Associate and Studio Director at Dattner Architects, will represent the firm at the AIA Brooklyn Housing Committee’s three-event series on social housing.
Heather is a featured speaker on the Future-Proofing Housing: East vs. West Coast panel, alongside Michael Eliason and Sophie Nahrmann, moderated by Julie Torres Moskovitz, AIA. The event will be hosted at the Van Alen Institute.
Heather brings deep expertise in Passive House innovation and the design of climate-adaptive, community-driven housing. Her work advances the creation of inclusive, healthy, and sustainable communities.
The panel will examine the evolving landscape of social housing on both coasts—comparing government policies, funding mechanisms, and design strategies that address affordability, sustainability, and the long-term housing crisis.
