Gia Mainiero to Speak at 2026 DBIA NYC Metro Region Conference

Dattner Architects Partner Gia Mainiero AIA, LEED AP BD+C, DBIA, WEDG will participate in two panels at the DBIA NYC Metro Region Conference, held September 29–30, 2026, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The conference brings together owners, designers, and builders to explore the future of design-build delivery in New York.

On September 29, from 10:15–11:15 AM ET, Gia will speak on “Alternative Technical Concepts—Roadways to Success in Innovative Solutions at New York’s JFK Airport.” The panel will highlight the $1.24 billion design-build project transforming JFK’s Central Terminal Area, including a 1,950-car Ground Transportation Center and a 400-foot-long pedestrian bridge. Joined by representatives from Skanska, Parsons, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Gia will discuss how Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs) helped advance innovation and design excellence, sharing perspectives on the process from RFP through design approval.

Later that day, from 1:30–2:30 PM ET, Gia will participate in “From Principles to Practice: Cross-Disciplinary Perspectives for Design-Build Delivery.” Alongside representatives from Jacobs, the NYC Department of Design and Construction, and Hunter Roberts Construction Group, she will explore the expanding use of design-build in New York City, including best practices, measures of success, and opportunities and constraints in implementation.

Together, the discussions will examine how collaboration and innovative approaches to project delivery can support design excellence and strengthen outcomes for public projects.
